Welcome to Belemnite Cottage, a cosy two bedroomed retreat on the harbourside in the heart of Whitby's old town. Situated in a traditional yard off Sandgate in the East Side of town. A comfortable lounge overlooking the harbour with wood burning stove leading into an open plan kitchen with original range and modern appliances. A family bathroom with walk in shower is off the entrance hallway. Upstairs are two bedrooms, a king size with window onto harbour and a twin with window onto quiet yard. We provide a free parking permit for Abbey Headland car park and the cottage has superfast fibre wifi.

Pair of vintage mahogany single beds with pocket sprung mattresses. Bedside tables, mirrors and hairdryer. Wardrobe and shelved cupboard for storage along with shelves and hooks. USB sockets, full length mirror and double glazed window onto the yard with blackout curtains.

As this property is in the centre of town and overlooks the harbour there may be some noise from the harbour, street noise from people shopping on the street during the day and leaving the nearby pubs and restaurants at night, although it is set back from the street in a quiet yard. It is also in a building with holiday accommodation below and next door so there may be noise from the other properties or their balconies.

The property benefits from a parking permit for the Abbey Headland car park which can be used all year round on a first come first served basis. Please note this a 5 minute drive and a 10/15 minute walk up-hill (or 5/10 minutes down-hill!) on Caedmon's Trod steps.
WINTER : November 1st - March 31st
The parking permit may be used in both the Church Street and all Upper Harbour car parks on a first come first served basis. Church Street is a 1 minute drive and a 2 minute level walk, Endeavour Wharf is a 3 minute drive, 5 minute level walk, Marina Front is a 3 minute drive and 5/10 minute level walk and Marina Back is a 4 minute drive, 5/10 minute level walk.
The permit and directions to all car parks are in the apartment for you to collect on arrival.

Belemnite Cottage is perfect for couples, friends and families holidaying together who are looking for a characterful and well-equipped cottage, overlooking the harbour and close to a fantastic selection of traditional pubs, restaurants and its vibrant mix of independent shops.
Please note this property is not recommended for children under 4 as it has 13 external steps and steep internal stairs, please read the Access Statement.
PERFECT FOR ALL SEASONS
At any time of the year Whitby is beautiful with it's busy harbour, long sandy beach and the famous 199 Steps leading up to the Abbey ruins which date back to the 7th Century. Whitby is an ideal setting for exploring the North Yorkshire Moors too. Belemnite Cottage offers the perfect apartment for enjoying this area all-year round - not just for summer. It has central heating throughout and a woodburner making it cosy and warm for those wild autumn and chilly winter days. There's always something happening throughout the town, with festivals and fairs are held throughout the year. These include Whitby Folk Week and the Whitby Regatta, and there are two popular Goth festivals each year.

Terms & Conditions
Bookings are subject to the following terms and conditions as agreed to at the time of booking
A contract between you and the owner, Robinson’s Jet Ltd, will come into existence when we receive payment and accept your booking by issuing a confirmation of booking for the holiday dates shown in the rental agreement. The contract binds you & all the members of your party. It is your responsibility to ensure that all members of your party accept the terms of the contract set out in these terms & conditions of booking. Failure to disclose all relevant information or comply with these terms may lead to termination of the contract & loss of the booking.
A non-refundable deposit of 50% of the holiday price is payable at the time of booking. Bookings made less than 6 weeks before your arrival date must be accompanied by the full amount of the holiday charge.
The balance must be paid so as to arrive no later than 6 weeks before the commencement of your holiday. If the balance is not received by the due date then your holiday will be treated as a cancellation and the client will remain liable to pay the balance of the rent.
All cancellations must be immediately notified by telephone or email. If you cancel your holiday more than 6 weeks before it is due to start then your deposit will be forfeit. If you cancel less than 6 weeks prior to the holiday then the full balance remains due and is not refundable except at our discretion.
We strongly advise that you take out comprehensive travel insurance. If you choose not to then you accept responsibility for any loss that you may incur due to your cancellation.
Your booking will not be cancelled by the owner except in exceptional circumstances beyond our control. Notification will be given of the cancellation as soon as possible and we will promptly refund all payments made for your holiday. Our liability for cancellation will be limited to payments made to us.
With any cancellation we will endeavour to re-let and refund your payment.
The number of persons using the accommodation at any time must not exceed 4 and only those people listed on the booking form can occupy the apartment. We reserve the right to terminate the booking without notice and without refund in case of a breach of this condition.
This property is not recommended for children under the age of 4 due to the access and steep internal stairs, it is at your discretion if you wish to bring younger children. Please read the full access statement and ask if you require further information.
Bookings cannot be accepted from persons under eighteen years of age.
We (the owner) reserve the right to refuse a booking without giving any reason.
We or our representative reserve the right to enter the apartment at any time to undertake essential maintenance or for inspection purposes.
Tenancies normally commence at 4pm unless otherwise agreed and guests are required to vacate the apartment by 11am on the day of departure. This allows the accommodation to be thoroughly cleaned and prepared for incoming guests. On leaving please leave property clean and tidy, make sure all rubbish is removed, windows closed and door locked.
Pets or smoking anywhere on the premises will result in immediate termination of occupancy and forfeiture of all payments. This must be strictly adhered to and any damage or extra cleaning caused by pets or smoking will be at the expense of you.
In making a booking you accept responsibility for any theft, breakage or damage caused by you or any member of your party and agree to indemnify us in full for any loss that we may incur as a result.
Damage to property – Please treat the facilities & accommodation with due care so that other guests may continue to enjoy them. In the event that you notice damage in your accommodation please let us know immediately so that we can take the appropriate action. If there have been any breakages during your stay, we would be grateful if you could replace them or advise us before you leave. The accommodation will be inspected at the end of the holiday & you may be charged for any loss or damage found.
Please lock the doors and close the windows when the property is unoccupied.
The owner reserves the right to make a charge to cover additional cleaning costs if the client leaves the property in an unacceptable condition.
Please note that in the event that any keys issued are not returned at the end of your stay, then the cost of replacement will be charged to you.
The client may in no circumstance re-let or sublet the property, even free of charge.
The internet connection is available (at no extra cost) subject to technical availability.
The owner shall not be liable for any temporary defect or malfunction of any equipment, machinery or appliance in the building.
All inventory must remain in the property it was in at arrival and not be taken to another property.
Children under 18 must be supervised by their parents/guardians at all times.
We reserve the right to terminate a holiday without compensation where the unreasonable behaviour of the persons named on the booking (or their guests) may impair the enjoyment, comfort or health of others.
Any problem or complaint which the client may have concerning their holiday must be immediately reported directly to us/our representatives and we will endeavour to put matters right. Any complaints not reported to us/the property manager at the time and only reported after the client has returned from holiday will not be considered by the proprietor.
We reserve the right to make reasonable amendments or additions to these terms and conditions without notice.

Access to the property is restricted, it is possible to drive down Sandgate to unload at the end of the entrance to the yard but not recommended between 9am-6pm as the street is very narrow and pedestrianised. Access on foot only down Nicholsons Yard, up the curved stone steps, along the wooden gantry. Inside the property is on 2 floors with both bedrooms on the second floor. Bathroom with walk-in shower, WC and basin is on first floor off hallway. There are 14 steep steps up to the bedrooms.. Floors are uneven in places.
